How long will plants last without re-filling the wet pot?
The time between each watering may vary. Generally speaking, you can leave your plants for 10 days or more before watering again. However, it is wise to think about where your plant is situated and how much water it demands.
For example, if the Wet Pot is sitting by a sunny window and the plant requires a lot of water – then naturally you will have to refill the wet pot more regularly than if it was sitting out of direct sunlight and didn't require as much water.
How do you look after the pot itself?
It’s very easy. To keep the Wet Pot looking clean, just remove the clay pot and gently wipe the glass on the inside and the out.
Maintenance:
After following the planting instructions you can leave your plant to look after itself. All that you have to do is top up the water when you notice the level has dropped below the clay pot base.
The time between each watering refill may vary. If the pot stands by a sunny window and contains a large water demanding plant then naturally you will need to refill the wetpot more regularly then if the pot was out of direct sunlight and contained a smaller plant.
Wet pot is good for nearly all plants with the exception of those that need little water such as cacti. However there are other plants such as orchids which you may find only need 4 cms of water in the glass container at a time.
As with all Natural products you will need to wash the glass container and wipe the clay pot once in a while, the glass part can be placed in a dishwasher to make life easier if you wish.
How Wet Pots work
Wet Pot systems are the natural solution to simple plant care. It does not rely on complicated mechanical parts but instead uses the laws of nature.
The wet pot system is made up of two parts – clay for the actual plant and a separate hand-blown glass container which acts as a reservoir for water. Through the osmotic process the plant absorbs from the clay pot all the water it needs to thrive and grow throughout the day and night. Therefore your plant is never over watered nor under watered, so leaving home for extended periods is not a worry, but also for us who do not have green fingers our plants now have a chance of surviving.
Each clay pot has a unique glaze on the upper part, and which is applied at a second firing making it easy to wipe clean.
Planting instructions:
1) Soak the clay pot in water for a day before use as this enables the clay to become more porous.
2) Take your new plant out of its existing pot.
3) Cover the bottom of the clay pot with enough soil so that the plant is level with brim of the pot, fill up with soil around the plant.
4) Wipe off any dirt or soil on the exterior of the clay pot or glass.
5) Pour water through one of the two clay pot’s inlets until the glass cylinder is filled to the top.
